Nelson succeeds Peter Freire, who left in June after two years. ILPA board member Michael Mazzola acted as interim CEO while Jennifer Choi, ILPA’s managing director of industry affairs, was managed the day-to-day operations.

Nelson will start in his new role on March 26, the Association said in a statement released on Friday. He takes the helm of ILPA at a time of significant expansion. ILPA has more than 450 member institutions representing more than $2 trillion of private equity assets under management.
