PERE’s 2024 Japan report finds that the country is still a top choice for investors
Japan’s central bank has finally raised the cost of borrowing, for the first time in 17 years, and in doing so has become the last to move out of negative interest rates. This marks the end of an era but is not expected to cause investors to turn away, as Japan has been named the top Asia-Pacific destination for five years running in CBRE’s regional investment intentions surveys. Those investors are needed now more than ever, as the country looks to decarbonize its real estate sector – an undertaking with no shortage of challenges, but which also presents a great many opportunities.
