New York State Common Retirement Fund approves $325m in commitments

The US public pension has backed two real estate funds.

New York State Common Retirement Fund has agreed to commit €280 million ($315 million) to Blackstone Real Estate Partners Europe VI and $10 million as a top-up commitment to BIG Real Estate Fund I, according to the pension’s May 2019 monthly report. The pension previously committed an initial $25 million to the fund in January 2018.

The $210.20 billion US public pension has an 8.0 percent target allocation to private real estate which currently stands at 7.30 percent.

New York State Common Retirement Fund has made seven commitments to real estate funds with a 2018 or 2019 vintage, which combined constitute $1.78 billion.
