Volcker rule to impact real estate funds from 2022

As the US Congress prepares for a final vote this week on plans to limit banks involvement with private equity real estate funds, industry professionals admit the regulations are unlikely to come into effect for more than a decade – but could significantly lower bank co-investment in alternative vehicles when they do.
